The NGT Method

We use a 'case model' approach to each implementation. This methodology allows us to consider all aspects of deployment prior to implementation. Our collaborative approach supports 'proof of concept' through Enterprise wide deployment with appropriate benchmarking and metrics. By considering each implementation as unique we can take a fresh approach each time. As an Elite Partner of Nuance Communications HealthCare Solutions we have the experience and resources to optimize success. We 'specialize' in Dragon Medical technologies and have substantial integration experience with many of the leading EMR products including: EPIC, Centricity, Cerner, Allscripts, e-MDs, e-CW, PICIS, NextGen, Amazing Charts, McKesson PP, Varian, and others.

Training Services

Onsite Quick Track Training for Dragon Medical for End Users

Next Generation Technologies, Inc. has developed a proprietary training method called QuickTrack™ end user training for Dragon Medical. The QuickTrack ™ method was developed to assist healthcare professionals to quickly "get up to speed" with Dragon Medical dictation software. This well regarded method provides (1) one initial group training session followed by an individual 1:1 training session for all program participants.[1]

During the initial group training session (2-3 hours in length) a formal training outline is followed and an overview of basic usage and core skills in conjunction with usage strategies is provided. It is preferable that the end-users have access to computer workstations for this group session [2].

Subsequent to the group training session each participant should receive 60-90 minutes of individual instruction at their own clinic PC. This allows for appropriate voice file transfer and/or configuration of the Roaming utility at the desktop level, voice file importation, or voice file creation; it also allows for individually based instruction to make sure that each participant has "got it."

In order to optimize the effectiveness of this method the 1:1 training session should follow in close temporal proximity to the Group Training session. It is anticipated that each clinician will be able to use Dragon Medical for chart production immediately subsequent to the 1:1 training.

NGT has developed proprietary training materials to support our Quick Track™ training method and the supporting documentation is customized for each implementation.

Application Training for Dragon Medical for IS and IT Personnel

We have developed an extensive training program for IS and IT personnel specifically designed to provide clear and concise information about deployment and support of Dragon Medical technology. With specially customized training materials this program is built upon sound pedagogical strategies intended to provide the right information and materials in the right way, and can be delivered in conjunction with QuickTrack end user training.

e-Training Programs

As with the onsite program our objective is to minimize the time necessary to become productive using speech recognition software with EMR applications; e-Training can be configured in a host of ways, and can include group and 1:1 training modalities. We use a proprietary remote access tool which leaves no 'footprint' and allows for up to 5 nodes to be connected simultaneously.

Our objective is to minimize the time necessary to become productive using speech recognition software with EMR applications, while maximizing productivity right away. Hundreds of doctors and clinicians have learned the NGT way and, we'd be happy to put together a customized proposal for your group.

Custom Scripting and Application Integration

The Dragon Medical product includes a robust scripting interface that allows for custom integration of the Dragon speech recognition engine and EMR applications. This would include the ability to write additional voice commands either to inject full examination findings and to reduce the complexities of interacting with and EMR application-e.g., commands like Find New Patient, Show Active Meds List, and so on. NGT, Inc. personnel can create custom voice libraries for individual physicians interacting with their EMR, as well as full command libraries for large medical organizations. Our broad experience with applications like Centricity, EPIC, Cerner, e-Clinical Works, Allscripts, e-MDs, etc. allows us to create these voice commands efficiently, effectively, and provide full functional specification documentation. When NGT, Inc. is providing on site/e-Training we can integrate the efficiencies introduced by voice commands into our training method.
