Comments from the President

It's hard to believe that Groundhog's Day has come and gone and that we are well into 2008. I thought I'd start out our latest newsletter by announcing our new website. We have launched this healthcare focused website in order to better serve clients like you. In addition to providing the latest information about our company, products, and services we anticipate using this specialized website to provide support updates, downloads, etc. hopefully to improve our service offerings and reduce the amount of time needed to find solutions.... and we would welcome suggestions about what you'd most benefit from if it's not already there.

Dragon Medical 9.5 SP 1

Many of our Dragon Medical Open License Program (OLP) and Enterprise customers have started receiving their Service Pack 1 program CDs for Medical 9.5. This has caused some confusion as the SP 1 release is delivered as a single CD with ‘Disc 1’ on it. The 9.5 SP 1 disk replaces Disk 1 from your three disc set. So, for instance if you have Dragon Medical 9.5 you replace the disk 1 that came with this set with the single disc that's provided under the 9.5 SP 1 distribution. (In point of fact, you could use disk 2 and 3 from a 9.0 medical, 9.1 medical or 9.5 medical disc set and you would end up with the 9.5 SP 1 installation as long as you use this new disc that you have received.)

For our customers that have individually licensed software the SP 1 update is downloadable from the Nuance Communications website. Generally this is easiest by going to the knowledge base and using the Dragon product selection to locate your service release or other information.

NGT, Inc. and Fleetwood Financial Leasing

As we've had the chance to work with our clients it has become apparent that many would benefit from the ability to finance their technology purchases. In order to provide a more complete product offering in this regard Next Generation Technologies Inc. has entered into an agreement with Fleetwood Financial Leasing and can provide financial services to support purchase of something as simple as a laptop computer custom configured to support NaturallySpeaking to the purchase of a large multiuser site license and related technologies. Often, appropriate financing can mean the difference between only be able to do a limited implementation of cost-saving technologies and implementing a full rollout. Since 1985, Fleetwood Financial has provided customers with solid, reliable leasing programs that have helped grow their business... and at the same time Fleetwood Financial has captured the power of technology in order to streamline the leasing process while retaining their commitment to long-lasting business relationships. We are happy to serve as facilitators in this process and would be happy to discuss this at any time.

Wireless xTag Microphone Technology from Revolabs

For many speech recognition technology users wearing a headset microphone is impractical for a variety of reasons. While it is generally acknowledged that headset microphones offer the best recognition accuracy, many people are seeking for a different input modality. The folks at Revolabs (Burlington, Massachusetts) have brought a new microphone technology to market that can be clipped to the shirt, or worn around the neck on a lanyard- called the xTag microphone. With several patented and patent pending features, this design approach to acoustics management this device can be used by a broad range of NaturallySpeaking Medical users with a high degree of success. The device which has a list price of $249.

Remember, Next Generation Technologies Inc. can provide any input technology to our medical customers on an evaluation basis, and that includes the xTag microphone from revolabs, the Phillips SpeechMike Pro Plus 5276, or the GN/Jabra 9350 wireless microphone that can be used for computer and telephone.

NGT, Inc. Wins Nuance Communications Strategic Partner of the Year (Western) Award

In many ways we are just entering the golden age of general-purpose large vocabulary continuous speech voice-recognition technologies (i.e. Dragon Medical) and I continue to believe that the best is yet to come.
